Hakkoryu Teiydo School of Self Defense

Welcome to the Teiydo (Taiyodo) Hakko-ryu Ju-jutsu School of Self Defense. The Hakkoryu Teiydo School is the only school in Arizona that is recognized and authorized by the Hombu Dojo, (headquarters) in Japan. The school has been in Phoenix Arizona since the mid 1980’s and during this time has been maintaining and teaching the traditions of Hakko-ryu Ju-Jutsu as set forth by the creator Shodai Soke Okuyama and the Hakko-ryu headquarters in Japan.

The Teiydo (Taiyodo) School teaches the current techniques set forth by the Hombu Dojo. In addition to the “standard” techniques (waza), students are also taught the Goshin Do (self-defense) application to these techniques. Students have the opportunity to develop the confidence, mental skills and discipline to handle a myriad of situations. Learning Hakko-ryu is not just the physical application of techniques, but also the mental discipline to stay calm and avoid panic in any situation.

The journey to learning and practicing Hakkoryu will provide individuals with a broad spectrum of resources and benefits.
